Revision rhinoplasty may be suitable if you are unhappy with the appearance of your nose after a previous surgery, or if you still experience breathing problems. The most important step is a detailed evaluation of your nasal structure, skin quality, and expectations.
In most cases, surgeons recommend waiting at least 12 months after the previous operation to allow swelling and scar tissue to stabilise. The final timing is decided after examination and a personalised surgical plan.
Many revision cases need grafts to rebuild support and restore symmetry. Depending on what is available, cartilage can be taken from the septum, the ear, or the rib. The choice depends on your anatomy and the complexity of reconstruction.
Early recovery is similar to primary rhinoplasty, but swelling may last longer in revision cases. Most patients return to light daily activities after the first 7–10 days, while the nose continues to refine gradually over several months.
Most patients should plan enough time for consultation, surgery, and the first postoperative checks before travelling back. The exact duration depends on the extent of reconstruction and your individual healing process, but typically a stay of about 7–10 days is recommended.
